1981 Aria Pro II Japan SL-500D '61 SG Double Cutaway (Cherry Red)
1981 Aria Pro II Japan SL-500D '61 SG Double Cutaway (Cherry Red)
Made by the famous Matsumoku factory in 1981, the SL-500D was the only SG in the Aria Pro II catalog and is a very hard model to find nowadays. Solid mahogany body with a slim 60's profile mahogany neck and a 22 fret bound rosewood fingerboard (block inlays, 41mm nut width), it weighs a nimble 2.8kg's.
Seems to be close to all original factory fitted Dimarzio Super Distortion humbuckers paired with Japanese hardware and Aria Pro II stamped vintage-style tuners.
Received a full teardown and rebuild prior to listing along with a professional setup and service including a fretboard oil, fret polish, truss adjustment and electronics flush. Plays and sounds great with a punchy output and smooth action, the neck is straight and the frets are shiny with some life left.
