Made in the USA in 1975 or so, this is the second revision of the Norlin-era SG Special that features block inlays instead of the dot inlays on the earlier models. These are nearly identical to the SG Standard of the same era with the exception of the pickups, the Special was loaded with a pair of mini-humbuckers that give a nice tight tone.
Solid mahogany construction as pictured with a walnut finish set to a mahogany neck with a reasonably generous rounded profile and a 22 fret rosewood fingerboard, this one weighs 3kg's. This one is loaded with the original Mini Humbuckers along with the original tailpiece, the bridge has been replaced for a Gotoh and a few of the pots have been swapped as pictured.
A real players-grade vintage guitar, this one has seen plenty over it's lifetime but is structurally solid with no signs of any breaks or repairs anywhere to be seen. There's a few small holes in the top that have been dowelled (likely where some toggle switches were installed at some stage) and the body has plenty of signs of wear from general use. The frets are seemingly original and have plenty of pitting and playwear, the neck is reasonably straight and the truss is responsive.
A well loved vintage Gibson that would love a loving home!
