1978 Greco Japan M-800 Mirage/Iceman (Brown Sunburst)
1978 Greco Japan M-800 Mirage/Iceman (Brown Sunburst)
Made by the Fujigen factory in 1978 to emulate the Ibanez Iceman model that was conceived a few years earlier, the M800 was one of Greco's highest end Mirage models and is the same as the famous Iceman IC-210 that was used by Steve Miller. Mahogany body with a tobacco sunburst finish on the bound mahogany top set to a slim 60's profile neck with a 22 fret rosewood fingerboard, it weighs 3.6kg's.
Loaded with the original Maxon made triple-coil pickup mounted to a replacement pickup ring, it still has the original bridge, tailpiece, tuners and knobs. The four-way rotary switch selects four different coil configurations including neck, bridge/middle, all three coils in series and all three coils in parallel (the last setting has a much lower output than the other three though).
Received a full professional setup and service prior to listing and plays well with a straight neck, shiny frets and smooth action. The frets appear original and still have plenty of life and the truss is adjustable. Cosmetically it's clean as pictured with a few basic signs of wear.
